Step 2: Amenities

In the Step 2: Amenities section, all the necessary information about the property and its layout can be specified. It is possible to adjust the number of rooms, their type and any other information that is relevant, including rules for the future guests and amenities.

After being reviewed, amenities are mapped between Rentals United and the Expedia. However, please note that not all of them can be successfully mapped, as they appear variously for Rentals United and Expedia. In order to learn the details of the mapped amenities, it is possible to request a full summary of mappings. In order to do that, contact the Rentals United Support Team.

Number of bedrooms

Number of bedrooms refers to the overall number of rooms intended to sleep.

Number of bathrooms

Number of bathrooms refers to the overall number of bathing rooms with a shower or a bath.

Note: The overall number of bathrooms shared with Agoda is the total of bathrooms and toilets.

Number of toilets

Number of toilets refers to the overall number of WCs.

Note: The number of toilets is added to the number of bathrooms.

Kitchen

Kitchen refers to the separated kitchen area within the property. If you tick the separate kitchen checkbox, then a kitchen room type will be created at your property. In Rentals United it is treated as a room type. However, it will be synchronized with Expedia as an amenity.

In order to meet the Minimum requirements to connect, Kitchen needs be set in one of the following ways in Step 2: Amenities: Room-specific amenities:

  • Either Kitchen or Livingroom / Kitchen or Bedroom / Livingroom / Kitchen room type is set.

  • At least one amenity from the below list is selected: 

    • Kitchen in the living / dining room

    • Kitchen

    • Modern Kitchen

    • Cooking hob

    • Kitchenette

    • Bedroom / Living room with kitchen corner

Bed types

After being reviewed, bed types are mapped between Rentals United and Expedia. Please, see the below list for details of the bed types mapping:

Bedding composition

Expedia accepts beds in both cases:

  • if they are distributed across rooms in Rentals United,

  • if they are inserted in the General section.

If there are any beds in kitchen, living room or in the General section, these will be synchronized as if located in the living room area.

Example: As shown in the figure, beds distributed across three bedrooms will be synchronized with the Expedia. These are: queen size bed, double sofa bed and single bed. Other beds will be inserted under living room area in Expedia. In this case, it is the sofa bed.

Amenities distribution across rooms (N/A)

In this integration, this element is not synchronized by Expedia. Amenities available at the property will still be synchronized with the Expedia according to the performed mapping; however, the Expedia will not receive information on how these amenities are distributed. Hence, all the amenities will be synchronized as if they were inserted in the General list. 

Other amenities-related information

It may sometimes happen that you notice unwanted amenities added to your properties in Expedia, which are not selected for your property in Rentals United. It is possible due to the fact that Expedia automated content system is capable of reading and adding amenities/attributes to listings if it is found in the free text.

You may be using some standard forms across all your properties, for example arrival instructions which mention a pool. In this case, Expedia content system may pick up the pool amenity from the free text and add it automatically to the listing, even though the amenity is not added to the property itself.

Tip: Hosts should be careful to ensure the information within the free text should apply only to the actual property to avoid adding unwanted amenities by Expedia.

Key amenities

Key amenities in Expedia are selected amenities identified by Expedia. The information about their presence in the property is crucial for Expedia.

When none of amenities in Rentals United is mapped to an amenity from the key amenities list, we will provide Expedia with information that this amenity is not present.
